Hesitation Carries Risk

13 April 2026
In uncertain environments, hesitation can appear prudent.

In recruitment, it often leads to missed opportunities. Delays can result in losing strong candidates, internal misalignment and restarting processes.

High performing organisations are not rushing decisions, but they are making them with confidence and clarity.

“From a recruitment perspective, delays can have a real impact. High quality candidates are typically progressing through multiple processes, and even short pauses can result in losing them.

We frequently come across situations where a strong candidate interviews well and is identified as a preferred option, however internal alignment or approval timeframes extend beyond expectations. During that period, the candidate continues exploring other opportunities and accepts an alternative offer. The hiring team is then left revisiting the market, often with a reduced talent pool and additional time pressure.

Clear expectations, aligned stakeholders and timely feedback allow organisations to move with confidence, not rush, and ultimately secure stronger hires.”
