Speed Still Matters
While hiring decisions may be more measured in today’s market, quality candidates are still moving quickly.
Over the past few months, I have seen several recruitment processes lose strong applicants, not because of salary, role fit, or competition, but because decision-making took too long. By the time organisations were ready to progress, the candidate had already accepted another opportunity.
Speed does not mean rushing a hiring decision. It means having clarity around the recruitment process before it begins. Clear decision-makers, agreed timelines, and defined next steps create momentum and provide candidates with confidence in the opportunity.
The strongest hiring outcomes are rarely driven by urgency. They are driven by preparation, alignment, and decisive action when the right person is identified.
“In my experience, candidates will often wait for the right opportunity, but they rarely wait indefinitely for a decision. The organisations that secure the best talent are typically those that combine thorough assessment with timely action.”
What are you seeing in the current market? Are hiring timelines becoming a greater challenge in securing top talent?
