The Risk Of Over-Automating Recruitment
With 51% of employers recruiting in June, organisations are continuing to process significant numbers of applications and candidate interactions.
Automation can help manage that activity, but efficiency should not come at the expense of transparency, privacy or meaningful engagement.
Candidates notice when every communication feels generic, when no one can explain how an assessment was made and when automated screening appears disconnected from the actual requirements of the role.
Recruitment processes also involve large amounts of personal information, including employment histories, qualifications, references and, in some cases, sensitive information.
Technology should make it easier to communicate consistently, maintain accurate records and respond promptly. It should reduce administrative friction without removing accountability or the human experience from recruitment.
“Technology is at its best when it removes administrative burden, not professional responsibility. Recruitment still relies on sound judgement, transparent decision-making and genuine engagement with people.”
