Program Director

  • An initial 17 month contract with possible extension
  • Fortitude Valley location

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Director to take charge of overseeing and delivering large projects and programs within the Digital Health and Business Solutions unit. The ideal candidate will lead a multi-functional project team, engaging with diverse stakeholders, including solution vendors, clinicians, and project governance groups.

The initial focus will be on the CVIS (Cardiovascular Information System) Project, aiming to implement a replacement enterprise CVIS across the state’s Hospitals and Health Services.

Key Responsibilities:

The Program Director will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of projects across multiple facilities within one or more Hospital and Health Service. This includes providing advice and guidance on organisational and technical requirements to optimise success in each facility. Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is essential, involving high-level negotiations, expert advice provision, and resolution of complex risks and issues.

Additionally, the Program Director will provide expert advice and strategic direction into the development of project documentation, ensuring alignment with business case requirements, quality standards, and compliance with policies, strategies, and architecture. Managing and reporting on project-level dependencies to minimise timelines, as well as developing timely and relevant written submissions, briefs, presentations, and information papers to support governance requirements are crucial aspects of the role.

The ideal applicant:

The ideal candidate will showcase a robust track record in successfully delivering large-scale, complex, and high-risk projects. Possessing advanced program and project management skills, they should demonstrate the ability to lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams effectively.

Additionally, expertise in managing major program budgets, strong negotiation and communication skills, adeptness in working collaboratively, and a thorough understanding of project management methodologies, with a desirable knowledge of the health environment, are key attributes sought for this role.

Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements:

While not mandatory, a relevant qualification such as Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) Certified Practicing Project Director (CPPD) or equivalent would be well regarded.

This position may require the incumbent to operate a government vehicle, and a relevant license to operate this type of vehicle is required (Queensland ‘C’ class license).
